Most notably is the complete re-tooling of the user dashboard. We've added a completely new section that will now act as the main interface for users to perform all admin functions on the site. Whether responding to messages from other users or making and approving bookings - everything can now be managed from the new “user dashboard”. Instead of navigating to the message tab to send a message, or to the bookings tab to approve, decline, or pay for a booking, users are automatically prompted to perform these tasks as soon as they log in. In this way, interactions with other iStopOver users are kept organized and simple, with prompts every step of the way, so that actions can be taken care of without any guesswork whatsoever.
To give you an example, below is a
screen shot of the new dashboard in action. In this picture I have received
a booking request for my private room rental and am taken to the dashboard
as soon as I log into my iStopOver for Home Rentals account. From this
screen I can see all the information I will need, such as the name of
the user (with a link to their profile), the dates of the stay being
requested, and the total amount for the booking. Additionally, I'm able
to perform any action associated with the booking request, including
messaging the user, approving the booking, and declining the booking.
You may have also noticed the side panel located on the right of the
new dashboard screen. This is essentially an "at a glance"
look at your account and any activity that is associated with it. From
this panel, you can easily see an overview of all your listings and
any bookings that may be pending or are currently underway, as well
as information about your profile and quick-access links to change key
preferences associated with your iStopOver account.
Finally, we have added a brand new
section in the listing page that allows hosts to include arrival instructions
for their guests (depicted below). This is where hosts can now give
precise directions to their location, instructions on how to use buses,
trains, and shuttles in the area, and any information that may be of
interest to an upcoming guest such as additional contact information
and other details about the upcoming stay. This information is automatically
given to guests once they have completed a booking request with a host,
and is never given to visitors of the site until they have done so.
So far reactions to the new changes on iStopOver for Home Rentals have been extremely positive, and we've seen booking requests and communication between our users happen much more easily and efficiently. We will continue to improve the way our users use and interact with the website, and look forward to show you the new features we have planned over the next couple of months.
Please keep giving us any feedback you have on using the site. We love hearing from you.
